Appalled by an article in Forbes (via @HalleTecco) about the depressing following statistics for men and women on Twitter, I started a Women-only PF Tweeter list: @UpsideofMoney/pftweeters-womenonly-10.
Halle lists these stats from Harvard Business Review (2009): women get less love on Twitter than men. While the random sample of 300,000 Twitter users showed that men and women follow a similar number of Twitter users, men have 15% more followers. “This is intriguing,” the authors noted, given that there are more women than men Twitter users: 55% to 45%. Further, men are almost twice more likely to follow another man than a woman while women are 25% more likely to follow a man than a woman.
OK, it’s only a first step. First, I wanted to find out how many Twitter PF women were out there, tweeting away, getting out there and gathering followers (but not as quickly as the men), broken up into a few categories. And, if you don’t see your name on this list and you should be on it, please let me know by email or Twitter (@upsideofmoney). P.S., check back frequently, this list changes from day to day.
So Who’s on the List? 250+ total women, in no particular order]
